Bridging Theory and Practice Research Project (40 total points):
This course has an important research and writing component. Students are expected to complete a paper that would connect one public administration theory to current public administration practice. The main scope of this project is for students to develop, through research and writing, and improved appreciation and understanding of the role of theory in public administration practice (e.g., the way practice is driven by theory, the gap between theory and practice). Within the space of 15 pages double-spaced research paper students are expected to critically review a public administration theory of their choice and delineate its applications in practice.
EACH PAPER SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING (AND NOT OTHER) SECTIONS (NO EXCEPTIONS):
- Introduction
- Theoretical Framework of Choice
- Most Notable Scholars/Literature Review
- Most Appropriate Methodological Approaches
- Applications in Practice
- Conclusions
- References
The research paper must be written following APA style guidelines. It should have at least a minimum of 15 references and should be at least 15 double-spaced pages in length. Please note that Wikipedia IS NOTconsidered a reference.
